    Tuesday 11/19/13 –  Disability and Employment: A Technical Overview, the Practical Application and a Personal Perspective

    Participants will receive information about:

    People with disabilities represent a largely untapped pool of potential employees (the unemployment rate of people with disabilities is more than twice the national average!) During this workshop you will receive a down to earth overview of the Americans with Disabilities Act as it relates to employment. You will also gain practical ideas around adding people with disabilities to the workforce. Throughout the presentation, Rob will be sharing his experiences in completing his quest for employment (the good, the bad and the ridiculous.) The emphasis will be an understanding that is practical and actionable.

    Learning Objectives: By the conclusion of the session, participants will be able to:

    • Prepare function based job descriptions.
    • Identify conditions considered as “disabilities”  as defined by the ADA.
    • Define “Reasonable Accommodation” and understand the associated costs.
    • Recognize potential tax benefits of hiring workers with disabilities.
    • List business benefits of hiring people with disabilities.
