Tuesday 9/16/14 –   Balancing Compensation

Objective:

The program will focus on building the foundation and developing a market based compensation program.

Topics covered will include the importance of

• Developing a compensation philosophy supporting the organizations goals and complying with applicable laws
• Accurate job descriptions and job matching with compensation survey data
• Knowledge of the organization’s staffing needs and availability of qualified applicants,
• Choosing and evaluating market data for reliability and validity
• Choosing the most appropriate market information for the organizations positions based on organizational goals and compensation philosophy
• Developing a costing model
• Communication
• Continual evaluation of the compensation program to ensure effectiveness

• Carol Tennant, Systems & Compensation Specialist, West Virginia University Hospitals, Inc.
• This program is pending for  1.5 credit hours of general recertification credit from the HRCI.
